Course Description
Advanced dermoscopy course has been specially designed for healthcare professionals to identify and diagnose common skin lesions and conditions, using the specialised dermatoscope tool.
It is all about pattern recognition and this course should serve as an introduction to how to use the dermatoscope and what features to look out for when looking at the concerning lesion with it.
By using the dermatoscope appropriately, it can save the patient unnecessary biopsies if the diagnosis is obvious and at the same time, it can help you identify any sinister features for which you may want to offer immediate treatment or specialist referral.
A good aesthetic practitioner is able to identify lesions correctly and offer effective solutions. An annoying mole that a patient wants removed for aesthetic reasons, may be skin cancer which needs urgent medical (not aesthetic) attention!
It is strongly recommended that you complete the FDN1.0 Certificate of Applied Skin Sciences prior to attempting this module to help increase your understanding of the topics covered here.
